I just started a new job 3 weeks ago and my 10 month old is in KinderCare (WI). She is teething and has been for the past few weeks.

I have been called EVERY DAY in the past 2 weeks to pick up my 10 month old because she "is running a fever" - never over 101.2!!! I am hanging on to my new job by the skin of my teeth because I have to remove her from daycare for the "safety of the other children". She has been to the doctor, the doctor said "she is TEETHING, she will be alittle warm". But for the safety of the other children, my 10 month old HAS TO LEAVE everyday!

What are the other infants going to catch? TEETH? She is not viral - she is teething AND since you have to pay KinderCare in advance, and you have to leave your job to care for you teeting baby - NO ONE WINS except KinderCare!

If she were indeed SICK, virally SICK with a fever, I would have no problem taking her out of daycare for the safety of the other infants, but all the other infants are going to TEETH and what???? be sent home until the teeth pop thru and hopefully a mother (single mothers especially) won't lose our jobs!!!

1. Your job is not the rest of the worlds problem.

2.

What good parent would leave their sick child and not be there to care for them 24/7 until they are better.

"I can't keep missing work" is code for I am a poor planner and don't care about the health of the people around me.

Since when is a temperature of 100 degrees or more NOT considered a fever? We give a "care call" to give parents a heads up if their child's temp hits 99.

If they're not running at 98.6, then they are sick and need to be sent home.

I am SO sick of parents trying to say that 100 degrees or more is not a fever or simply teething. It's not, it's an illness.

I am SO sick of ignorant "Employee"s.

100.0 degrees for a baby is not a fever.

Check your WebMD, Babycenter, etc...

Copy that ...

And then to add one degree to the recorded temperature is untenable in the extreme. .....we would have never known this except an "employee" spilled the beans.

The Kindercare we use told us that they add one degree to the actual recorded underarm temperature.....

We asked why and they merely said that's their policy.

That's *** Employee! !!

We get him home and his temp is fine.

We take temp with the same digital thermometer our doctor uses.... and take in 3 different positions.

I work for Kindercare. If your child's doctor determines that it is teething, then (s)he can write a note saying that the fever is not related to anything contagious. You may then control it with a fever reducer at the center, and if it can stay below 100F with medicine, then your child should be able to stay at the center.

Work is important, but if you little one is teething and has a fever I bet she's not comfortable. Don't waste your energies complaining about the situation.

Think about your daughter, she needs you when she feels sick.

KinderCare and your job are not as important as your daughter. God bless you both.

I don't know about your area but here if we have a fever of over 101 we can't go to school.

Sorry, I don't mean to be mean, but if your child has a fever, shouldn't you be home with him/her? I know everyone has to work but pray about it and let God be your only source.

If its the companies policy then the child can't stay there with a fever. God Bless You!!

SAME THING WITH MY SON... THE DIRECTOR SEEMED NICE AT FIRST BUT TURNED OUT TO BE A TOTAL -----!

VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND MAKES ATTEMPTS TO BE CONDECENDING (AT LEAST UNTIL SHE MET ME). SHE'S ONLY THERE HALF OF THE TIME AND OF THE MILLION FACES OF WORKERS I'VE SEEN SINCE DECEMBER, I ONLY LIKE 3 OF THE WOMEN. THERE'S NO TIME TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE REST. THEY ALSO DON'T CARE ABOUT EXTERNAL SITUATIONS THAT CAUSE UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCESHE.

ANYWAY, MY SON WOKE UP FINE, HAD HIS BREAKFAST, MIDDLE OF THE DAY CAME DOWN WITH A TEMPERATURE OF 101.7 (SO THEY SAY)... I GOT A CALL CLAIMING HE WAS OUT OF COMMISSION AND I NEEDED TO GET HIM... LUCKILY MY SISTER, WHO IS A NURSE, WAS CLOSE BY AND PICKED HIM UP FROM THE DAYCARE... SHE SAID HE WAS PLAYING AND EATING AS NORMAL...

TOOK HIS TEMP AND SHE CALLED SAYING IT WAS AT 99... SHE DID A COLD TOWEL AND CHILDREN'S MOTRIN... HE CONTINUED ON WITH THE REST OF HIS DAY AS NORMAL BUT HE COULDN'T RETURN TO DAYCARE UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER HIS "SYMPTOMS" WERE OVER. HIS "SYMPTOM" WAS TEETHING WHICH CAUSED THE ALL OF A SUDDEN SPIKE IN TEMPERATURE.

HE HAD 2 TEETH PUSH THROUGH WITHIN THAT NEXT DAY. SOMEONE LIKE ME WOULD THINK THAT NURSERY DAYCARE PROVIDERS WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE SOMETHING SUCH AS THAT WITHOUT LOOSING THEIR MIND AT THE FIRST SIGNS... THEN WANT YOU TO TAKE YOUR KID OUT FOR THE NEXT DAY BUT DON'T WANT TO PRORATE YOUR WEEK. THEY ARE FUNNY TO ME.

NOT TO MENTION THAT THE MONTH BEFORE THAT HIS MOUTH WAS BUSTED, I SPOKE WITH 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND GOT 2 DIFFERENT STORIES. THEY SAY HE FELL BACKWARD, I SAY HOW DOES A BACKWARD FALL PRODUCE A BUSTED SWOLLEN LIP???

CRAZY LADIES! THE BOTTOM LINE, HE'S OUT OF THERE!!!
