Update by user Nov 27

What they do with children is awesome and I appreciate what they’ve done with my child, and this is in no way shape or form trying to bash them. But I think there are just way too many children to teachers in the class.

My son is in his third KinderCare center. In the first two, he spent a combined 15 months as an infant. We were all very happy with the experience. Job changes necessitated the move to the third, at which point things took a turn. Near as I can tell, learning isn't...

The day care center in Longmeadow MA is horrible: dirty floors, old toys, not caring management. My son got bit there 10-15 times withing 2 month; my daughter still has a bit mark on her cheeks from two month ago. They accept sick kids so they are getting other kids...

Kindercare is an awful place to work or send your children to. Corporate does not care about the children. The teachers and administration are what make the centers really work and they are the ones who truly care about the children(at least the one I worked at did)....

So if a location is losing money how long do you expect the corporate office to keep it open to show they care? 2 months?

3 months? And it's not any corporation's business to tell you how a particular location is performing so that you can start to think about where to go next. Yeah, it sucks that 15 people are out of work and parents need to find a new place. Did you want corporate to ask how much more you might be willing to pay to keep it open?

And if some people can't afford to pay more now some other people have to pay even more.

Kindercare isn't a commune, it's a business. Sorry that it sucks for you, your kids, the other families and the workers but yeah, corporations care about making money that's how they stay a corporation.

I love KinderCare in Lakeville. Both of my children have attended since they were infants.

I have seen a lot of improvement over the past few months. It is sad that there are so many negative comments about such a great center.

KinderCare review in Greenfield, Massachusetts: Bad place to work

The staff is paid very little so little that unless your management you qualify for welfare. All the company cares about is the money. They are always moving kids around to cut hours by sending the staff. We have high expectations to follow the curriculum to a T however we don't always get supplies and very little planning time. The kids don't always get the best treatment because the staff is overworked underpaid and stressed out. There is a high turnover rate because of this. We don't have a cleaning company that comes every night so the places is often dirty. It's also very run down; paint chipping off the doors, shutters broken, ceilings that leak.. I could go on and on.

My daughter works there, she does the very best she can, she is very conscientious. But she gives me continual reports about understaffing and the concerns of acceptable ratio of kids to teacher in a room.

She works long hours, has logged overtime, and is not paid for the overtime. They owe her - and haven't paid her for - 14 hours overtime so far. This is a legal issue. She'd like to keep working but this kind of payroll malfeasance is illegal. Payroll's logic just doesn't make sense, whoever is doing it is very unprofessional/unqualified, because they told her once after she'd taken vacation that they wouldn't pay her overtime for the OT on a nonvacation day because she had that vacation. The logic completely escapes me.

We think this is corporate, not local, that is screwing around with payroll.

I agree with you completely. At my center that I currently work at students from all different ages at the middle of the day combine in my classroom so I am unable to create a age appropriate learning experience for the children in my classroom and this is not what parents and our government pay for but mostly the children are missing out.

The communication between parents and teacher is basically non existent since parents most of the time do not know who there full time teacher is until conferences.

As a teacher at a KinderCare we almost never get the supplies and materials we need to teach what is in the curriculum and we literally are not given time during our day to create enrichments for children. sadly to say that this place is just a drop off center for young children

A lot of people have jobs that pay so little that they qualify for welfare, so join the club. If you are unhappy find a different job.
